ROM Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install FadyOS on your device
Prerequisites
Before starting the installation process, ensure you have:
- A compatible device from our supported devices list
- USB debugging enabled in developer options
- At least 50% battery charge
- A complete backup of your important data
- Latest platform tools installed on your computer
Warning: Unlocking bootloader will erase all data on your device. Make sure to backup everything important before proceeding.
Step 1: Unlock Bootloader (Xiaomi)
First, you need to unlock your device's bootloader:
- Enable Developer Options by tapping Build Number 7 times
- Enable OEM Unlocking in Developer Options
- Bind your device to your Xiaomi Account
- Boot into fastboot mode by holding Power + Volume Down
- Connect your device to your computer
- Open Mi Unlock Tool and click unlock
- Confirm unlock on your device, do as application says
Note: Some devices may have a different unlock method. Check your device's specific instructions from various sources or Youtube.
Step 2: Install Recovery
Install a custom recovery to flash any custom rom:
- Download the recommended recovery for your device
- Boot into fastboot mode
- Flash recovery using:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
or fastboot boot recovery.img
- Reboot into recovery:
fastboot reboot recovery
- If it's TWRP, go to advanced and click on Flash current TWRP
- If it's OrangeFox, copy recovery zip to your device, flash it in recovery
Step 3: Install FadyOS
Now you can install FadyOS:
- Download desired ROM for your device from our downloads page
- Transfer the ROM file to your device's storage
- If you are coming from an encrypted storage, wipe data, metadata, cache. Then flash the rom, after flashing is done, go to wipe and format data with yes. Choose Slot A then reboot
- If you are coming from an encrypted storage, wipe data, metadata, cache. Then flash the rom and reboot to system.
Note: First boot may take up to 8 minutes. This is normal. Don't panic.
Troubleshooting
Boot Loop Issues
If your device is stuck in a boot loop:
- Boot back into recovery
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache
- If issue persists, perform a clean installation
Installation Failed
If you get an installation error:
- Verify you downloaded the correct version for your device
- Check the MD5 sum of the downloaded file
- Make sure you have enough storage space
- Try downloading the file again
